What President Obama is reading on his Vacation

First off why is anyone concerning themselves with what the president is reading. The presidents affairs should not be something similar to Facebook. Journalist should report the important events that the president does and not report his daily events as one would with Facebook. The presidents personal affairs should be personal and not reported to such detail, whats next "what president Obama ate for breakfast." That would not be too shocking. The president is not a celebrity he is the leader of a country who helps govern how the country is ran. He makes important deals and discusses many essential things with other country leaders. I view this to be a major issue with this country. We treat important officials like celebrities instead of showing the proper respect for them. We treat them like they are our friends, which is the wrong thing to do. This particular event holds no major importance in the government besides the fact that the president is taking a vacation which is perfectly ok. The only issue that I see is that the news stations and websites are reporting useless information, when they should be reporting major events that happen in the world today. Events such as what major leaders in countries do what. The news story dicusses what the presisent reads during his vacation in Hawaii. He brought "A Constellation of Vital Phenomena," by Anthony Marra, "The Narrow Road to the Deep North," by Richard Flanagan, "Nora Webster," by Colm Toibin and "The Laughing Monsters," by Denis Johnson "Age of Ambition: Chasing Fortune, Truth and Faith in the New China," by Evan Osnos and "Being Mortal: Medicine and What Matters in the End" by Dr. Atul Gawande

  1. David I agree with you completely. The press should be covering more important issues, but after reading the first part I was kind wondering what he as reading that made the press write a story on it. Unless he is reading Hitler's guide to everlasting piece, personally I don't care what he is reading and I am not sure why the press cares so much. Good blog David and very good point.
